Who we are, and what we are not
Rooted Payments is an independent payments brand. We connect merchants with payment processing and point-of-sale providers.
We are not a bank. We are not a licensed lender. We are not the processor of record for your transactions, and we don't hold, move or settle your funds. Your merchant account is issued by a payment processor and its sponsor bank, and your agreement is with them.
Scope of the content here
Everything on this site is general information. Descriptions of processing, underwriting, hardware and category rules reflect conditions at the time of writing and change often in this industry.
Nothing on this site is a contract, a rate quote, an offer of credit, or a promise of approval, pricing or any outcome. The written quote and the agreements prepared for your business are the terms that count.
No approval guarantee
Merchant accounts are subject to underwriting by the processor and its sponsor bank. That decision is theirs, not ours. We make no representation that any application will be approved, or that any specific category, product or state will be accepted.
Legal and regulatory compliance is yours
Hemp, CBD, kratom, vape and cannabis-adjacent products are governed by federal law, state law and card network rules that differ by product and by location. You're responsible for the legality of what you sell, for your product claims, for your labeling, and for your licenses. Nothing here is legal, tax or regulatory advice for your business.
Service agreements
Point-of-sale setups and merchant accounts are governed by separate written agreements you receive before anything is billed. Those agreements, not this site, set pricing, term, cancellation and support.
Intellectual property
All content on this site, including written copy, images and branding, belongs to Rooted Payments unless otherwise noted. You may read it, link to it, and quote briefly with attribution. Please don't reproduce entire articles, images or branded materials without permission.
Third-party links
We link to third-party sources such as statutes, agency guidance, card network rules and manufacturer documentation. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or accuracy.
Limitation of liability
Information on this site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of this site. Where services are provided under a signed agreement, our liability is limited to the terms of that agreement.
